“There are so many amazing brands of makeup and skin care that aren’t available in Wichita, so we brought them here,” said Michele Wheeler, owner of Beau Monde Spa and Boutique.
From Hollywood favorites like Smashbox and Stila to results-oriented Bare Escentuals, Fresh and Anastasia (yes, it’s that Anastasia, brow-czar to the stars), Beau Monde offers a “try before you buy” approach to beauty trends.
Skincare lines like Yon-Ka Paris, Image and SkinCeuticals round out the spa’s offerings. ‘We’ve focused on a few good, hard-to-find lines, and our aestheticians really know these lines,” said Wheeler.

This month, Beau Monde has teamed with Susan’s Floral so gift-givers can deliver three times the love this Mother’s Day. With the purchase of a $100 or more gift card, Beau Monde is offering a free Bare Escentuals lip gloss and a free trio of roses from Susan’s.
Although graduates may love this gifted trio as much as mothers, grandmothers or mothers-in-law, the gift of a day of relaxation — Beau Monde-style — is a welcome way to conclude a chapter in their academic lives.
“Graduates have worked so hard during school, and can use a day of relaxation after they’ve gone through finals,” said Wheeler, who added a Beau Monde gift card is “really the gift of choice.” Recipients can use the card for spa services like massages, facials, manicures or pedicures, as well as a trip to Beau Monde’s makeup bar.
Just in time for summer-ready skin, Beau Monde is launching a series of hydrating services. The “How Sweet It Is” treatment, for example, uses a warm sugary scrub to gently exfoliate the body. After a thorough rinse, a honey butter moisturizer is applied, and then topped with a warm blanket. The result? “Your whole body is extremely soft,” said Wheeler. “It’s great for summer, or for special events like weddings or a weekend away.”
Beau Monde’s summer-ready services also include a Margarita manicure and pedicure. Along with a non-alcoholic margarita, the service includes a makeover for fingers and toes.
“Our ‘indestructible’ French manicure or pedicure is big for brides or for going to the beach. It helps prevent chipping and also keeps the polish looking shiny and fresh,” Wheeler said.
Reinventing the image
Since it opened in 1988, Beau Monde has been a fixture on Wichita’s spa scene. Wheeler, a former marketing executive who spend much of her career helping a Fortune 500 company grow into a household name, turned her sights to operating the spa. After purchasing Beau Monde, she reinvented the brand, doubled the space of its east location, opened a second location on Wichita’s west side and added high-end makeup and skincare lines.
