Interior designers Sueanne Oliphant and Kris Alan Kanngiesser often guide visitors through the decision-making process at Josephine & Co.
The next time you’re in the market for a destination shopping experience, program the GPS for Winfield.
Josephine & Co. is a retail store with something for every corner of your home. A few minutes spent browsing the expertly designed furniture groupings (which are artfully accessorized, of course!) may make you feel like your passport needs a new stamp. Throughout the 12,000-square-foot showroom are unique finds from around the world.
Whether it’s an etagere from Hungary, a French-influenced sofa or a one-of-a-kind Egyptian door with colored glass, there’s something unexpected to suit nearly every style. And, if you don’t see what you’re looking for, the store’s in-house designers can help create custom furniture.
In addition to furniture and accessories, Josephine & Co. also carries a designer-selected collection of original oil paintings and more. From bedding and lighting to custom window treatments and upholstery, the on-staff designers offer years of collective experience to find just the right complement to your home’s style. They can assist you in the comfort of the store’s workroom, point the way as you sift through bolts of home décor fabrics and trims, or pair that “just right” shade of granite counter top with your new cabinets.
Josephine & Co. carries the requisite items for bridal and baby registries, said Jalynn Vaughn Riedlinger, the store’s manager. Plus, there’s always a new “find” to discover.
“We are constantly searching for those one-of-a-kind, unique pieces for our clients,” says Sueann Oliphant, one of the store’s designers and buyers.
Located in a historic building at the corner of 9th and Millington in the heart of the Winfield’s downtown, Josephine & Co. is surrounded by architectural details of days gone by.
Sandy and Gary Foust purchased the building and spearheaded its revival. In 2004, the couple opened Josephine & Co., as well as its sister boutique, Posh.
Posh carries apparel, handbags, accessories, jewelry and gifts, as well as items for babies and tweens. Soon, the site will be home to Cuppa Jo, a deli and gourmet coffee shop. The result? Plenty of reasons to plan a road trip.
Oliphant and Kanngiesser now offer gratis in-home design consultations in Winfield, Wichita and surrounding areas. Maybe the best things in life are, as they say, free. At least they are at Josephine & Co.
